IMAGE: What America Eats

I have to admit that I'm generally surprised at what other people eat.  I guess I have the good fortune of learning early about the evils of fake food. Well, it's never to late to create a new habit.  Maybe this image will prompt you in that direction.

What America Eats, Visualized

This graphic, from Visual Economics, breaks down the elements of our diet in pounds. The quantity of fruits and vegetables we eat is actually a little higher than I'd expect, though we still consume more sweets and sodium than we should. The chart also doesn't expose the extent to which corn goes into other foods.
